THIS year, a good friend of mine and I have been researching menus. He shares with me a love for food and wine, so it was fun doing our research. We came across a lot of "interesting" menus out there, all unique in their special ways. Several were a little too unique, especially for our little Lexington town, but the expereince is what you are aiming for.
Alot of places extended their Valentine's Day menus over the weekend and on into the week, so anymore you can enjoy dinner without the masses. Jean Farris, OpenTable's 2011 Diner's Choice Award winner, was the choosen spot, and we went on Monday night. They offered a four-course Prix Fixe menu with a wine pairing.
First
Lobster Bisque

Second - Poached Pear Salad
Sauvignon Blanc Poached Pear, Baby Arugula,
Walnut Vinaigrette, Big Woods Blue Cheese

Red Velvet Soufflé

We ended up getting one of each on the third course so we could try everything. I must admit, the sea bass entree won and as far as wine went, the Cabernet Sauvignon was the winner (unfortunately the lighting was not enough for pictures..). I do suggest checking out their website for their regular menu which offers a nice selection of cheeses and charcuterie, as well as some delicious appetizers and entrees!

So whether you are attached or single, do not dread this day. Instead take your taste buds on a vacation; venture outside your comfort zone and taste something you wouldn't normally. Simply take advantage of the Chefs around your city and their creativity on menus. ENJOY :)
